Religion, Gender, and Violence: The Problem for Human Security

When it comes to questions of gender and human security, religion frequently holds a particularly difficult position. Religion is one of the crucial
sources of insecurity for many of the world’s women, used by those who advocate war and other forms of military action in the name of promoting
security. How can feminists enter this dialogue without playing into a discourse that uses religiously-motivated violence against women
to promote more violence.
