Opening reception: Saturday, February 11, 3-5 pm

A display of ink and brush works by recognized artists from Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, France and the U.S. who represent the modern development of this time honored method of artistic expression. Featured artists include Gao Xing-Jian, the first Chinese writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2000, and Liu Guo-Sung, the world celebrated painter of Taiwan.

Free programs open to the public:

Ink Play? Feb. 11 during the opening reception

Artists from Taiwan will conduct a participatory ?ink play? with the audience. Artists interact with guests in creating original works on large cotton sheets.

Just for Kids: Ink Painting Workshop?Saturday, February 18, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m .. International Modern Ink Painting artists will provide small paper umbrellas for children, age 5-14, to paint on. Each child will have his/her own original umbrella to take home. Call 410-704-2807 to reserve a space.

Student Poetry Contest ?Towson University students are invited to review the exhibition and submit a poem for a poetry reading on Thursday, March 9, 4 pm. $300 in cash prizes will be awarded. Winners will be invited to the AA&CC Donor Recognition Dinner on March 11. Only typed, unpublished poems will be considered. Poems must be submitted by March 1, 2006 in a sealed envelope to the Asian Arts Center located in the Center for the Arts.

Admission is free.

Gallery hours: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
