Challenge auditions will be held for the Towson University Big Band, Tuesday, January 31, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The auditions will take place in room 3071 in the new Center For The Arts and are for all instrumentalists, especially trumpet players, that are interested in challenging current bandmembers for their position. Auditionees should be prepared to sight-read and improvise. Prepared jazz pieces are also welcome.
The Towson University Big Band is a 16-piece jazz ensemble dedicated to performing classics thru modern jazz and the music of Hank Levy, the founder of the jazz program. The band rehearses Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 and, thus far, will be performing one concert this semester — Thursday, April 27.
If potential auditionees have any questions, contact Jim McFalls, the director of the ensemble, at {cricket9@earthlink.net}.
