TU’s Beta Gamma Sigma Names Board of Regents Member as Chapter Honoree

International honor society inducts 43 new members

TOWSON, Md. ? Towson University?s College of Business and Economics will induct 43 new members and name R. Michael Gill, chairman and CEO of HoytCapital and member of the USM?s Board of Regents, as the chapter?s honoree during the annual Beta Gamma Sigma initiation ceremony on Friday, Oct. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the University Union?s Susquehanna Terrace.

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition that a student in an undergraduate, master’s or doctoral program in business can receive anywhere in the world. Beta Gamma Sigma is an international honor society recognizing the outstanding academic achievements of students enrolled in collegiate business and management programs accredited by AACSB International ? Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. TU?s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma was chartered in 1993, and is among 430 collegiate chapters in more than 176 countries around the world.

This year?s chapter honoree, R. Michael Gill founded AMERICOM, the largest privately held technical staffing and handset repair company in the wireless industry. With SOLECTRON?s acquisition of Gill?s 1,200-employee company in 2000, he moved on to head HoytCapital, a Timonium-based venture-capital firm. He is currently the chair of the BB&T Regional Advisory Board, in addition to serving on both the Board of Regents Finance Committee and Organization and Compensation Committee. Gill is also the vice-chairman of the USM capital campaign working group. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Towson University.
