Michael Stanley, Long-Time Towson University Faculty, Dies

Michael Stanley, a member of the Towson University faculty for 32 years, died recently at his home in St. Petersburg, Russia. Mike retired in May of 2004 and moved to St. Petersburg–a city he had fallen in love with. Mike was a member of the faculty of the department of Mass Communication and Communication Studies. Mike was known by his colleagues as a friend and mentor. To thousands of TU students who studied under Mike, he was known as a caring, nurturing, dedicated teacher. Mike’s areas of expertise were journalism, public relations and advertising. His former students can be found today in media shops across this country and abroad. He was a leader on campus in international education.

There will be a viewing today (Wednesday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, 10 W. Padonia Rd. in Timonium. A funeral mass will be celebrated in The Church of the Nativity, 20 E. Ridgely Rd, Timonium, at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 15. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Fullerton.
