Brace yourself for the unexpected sounds of the koto, an ancient zither sixteen centuries old. Acclaimed pioneer of contemporary Japanese music, Kazue Sawai, and her twenty-plus member Sawai Koto Ensemble will astound audiences with their explosively bold and hauntingly serene articulations of contemporary and traditional works for standard koto (13 strings) and bass koto (17 strings).
