Edwin F. Hale Sr. of 1st Mariner Bank to Name Winner of The Associate Competition

TOWSON, Md. ? Edwin F. Hale, Sr., CEO and chairman of the board of 1st mariner Bank and owner of the Baltimore Blast soccer team, will announce the winner of The Associate competition, Towson University?s adaptation of the NBC hit series The Apprentice, on Tuesday, April 19. ?The Associate? will obtain a position with Hale after graduating from TU this May. The candidates will meet with Hale in TU?s Administration Building, Room 424 at 5 p.m.

The two final candidates are Amanda Knott, a marketing major, and Reanna Tarleton, an international business and Spanish major. Making the final round, both candidates formed teams, comprised of two additional teammates selected from the original cast of The Associate competition, to complete the final case. Details to the final case include the construction of a public relations and marketing plan for Hale?s Baltimore Blast soccer team for the 2005-2006 season.

Throughout the course of the challenge, Dennis Finnegan, executive vice president of First Mariner Bancorp, and University President Robert L. Caret joined Hale in evaluating candidates each week in the elimination process. In addition, Baltimore-area companies including Apogee Designs, Miles and Stockbridge, Gevity, Tri-Alliance Real Estate, and Weber Shandwick, presented case studies to the candidates and later provided feedback and professional insight.
