Founded in 1989, the Society of Redoubtable Dons is a cross-disciplinary group open to all faculty. We meet at the University Club in the Burkshire, where a cash bar contributes good spirits to spirited talk. Faculty gather at 3:30, and presentations begin at 4:00 on scheduled Fridays. Talks and papers aim to be learned but not arcane, brisk yet not rushed, and clear without being oversimple. Our spring slate features the following speakers and topics.
May 14: Lana Portolano, English: Sabbatical Talk: ?Utopia as a Concept Inherent in Rhetorical Theory.?
