Early registration is available for the 18th annual Baltimore Writers Conference, to take place at Towson University 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Saturday, November 14 at the University Union. Students registering before November 2 pay $35; general registration before that date costs $75.
The Baltimore Writers Conference 2009 brings published writers, editors and agents from throughout the region to talk about the business and art of literature and also to offer individual advice through quick critiques.
This year?s keynote speaker is Mark Bowden, an author, journalist and screenwriter whose works include Black Hawk Down and Killing Pablo.
Panel sessions will cover a variety of topics including screenplays, poetry, creative nonfiction, blogging, children?s books, thrillers and travel writing.

? Poet Jane Satterfield, whose first poetry collection, Shepherdess with an Automatic received a Towson University Prize for Literature
? Novelist and short story writer Elise Levine, author of 2003?s Requests and Dedications
? Playwright James Magruder, whose works include 2008?s Penelope & the Sterile Field
? Screenwriter, script consultant and producer Khris Baxter
? Graphic novelists Neal Shaffer (Borrowed Time) and Mark Wheatley (Breathtaker)

Registration includes all panels, lunch and the closing wine-and-cheese reception.
