K Edgington, Associate Professor in the Department of English will give a sabbatical talk entitled, “Ballywood: An Overview of Sports film,” on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 3:30–4:30 in Linthicum 116. Following an introduction of recent critical interest in the genre, she will discuss the often problematic pairing of race and comedy within films, such as Buster Keaton’s COLLEGE (1928), THE BINGO LONG TRAVELLIN ALL-STARS AND MOTOR KINGS (1976), and THE GREAT MATCH (2006).
