Faculty and staff discounts for children attending the Maryland Writing Project’s Summer Student Writers’ Workshop
This stimulating writing workshop for students who like to write and are entering grades 2-12 helps young writers develop their poetry, short stories, novels, or scripts. They will have the opportunity to work in a professional writer?s environment, and, like a ?real? writer, choose their own topics, have free writing time, work at their own pace, refine their work, and decide which pieces to publish.
The Student Writers? Workshop is divided into groups based on age. Two Maryland Writing Project Teacher-Consultants, experienced teachers and writers themselves, will work with each group, sharing their expertise through direct writing instruction and guided individual and peer-group writing conferences. The ratio of student writers to teachers is no more than 12 to 1. Following the end of this three-week morning workshop, the young writers’ work will be published in an anthology that will be sent to their homes and schools .
So tap one or more of your young writers to come to the Towson University campus, our Frederick County site, or our site planned for Harford County for this creative writing experience. For three weeks, young writers will read, write, and share writing in an atmosphere of artistic freedom, intellectual challenge, and fun. Join us for the summer of 2009. Discounts available for children of Towson University faculty and staff.
