Help celebrate Veterans Awareness Week! Support the Towson Student Veterans Group by attending the events listed below. Remember that Veterans Day falls on Sunday November 11.
Tuesday, November 6 – 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Veterans Center – Psychology 107
-Jade Wolfman-Charles will be holding an information session on the VA Medical System at the Veterans Center. Please stop by to ask any questions you may have regarding medical benefits, counseling, or navigating the VA system
Wednesday, November 7 – 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – 1400 Bond St. Baltimore City – Operation Oliver
-We are partnering with The 6th Branch and Come Home Baltimore for the latest Operation Oliver. We will be assisting in community cleanup to help revitalize and beautify the Oliver neighborhood. -Coffee and donuts will be provided. Work gloves, tools and other cleanup materials will also be provided. Please wear closed toe, sturdy shoes as well as long sleeves. We will be clearing alleyways of obstruction and debris. These alleyways are often used by drug dealers and we will be providing a valuable service to law enforcement and the community.
Wednesday, November 7 – 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Veterans Center – Psychology 107
-Mike Domitrz will be conducting an interactive presentation on consent, bystander intervention and supporting survivors.
Thursday, November 8 – 6-7 p.m. – Student Veterans Forum – Psychology Bldg room 312
-The Student Veterans Group is presenting a Q&A panel on veterans issues. We will be discussing our military experience, current military affairs/events and transition to civilian/student life.
-This is a non-partisan event and we invite students, faculty and staff to attend and ask questions.
Friday, November 9 – noon – Veterans Center – Meet and Greet with TU Serving Our Troops
-Come to the Veterans Center to meet with a student group dedicated to supporting military families and veterans. They do great work!
-Pizza and soda will be provided.
Friday, November 9 – 1-3 p.m. – Veterans Center – Care Package Drive
-We will begin to box up the donations made to the Veterans Center for the Care Package Drive. Please bring the names and addresses of any deployed friends or family members.
Saturday, November 10 – noon – Vet Group Tailgate – Johnny Unitas Stadium Parking Lot 13
-Come join the Student Veterans Group at the tailgate before the Towson vs. Rhode Island CAA football game. Towson is ranked and is in the hunt for a postseason berth.
-We will have food, beverages, music, and games.
Saturday, November 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (?) – The Americana in Canton – The Marine Corps Birthday Celebration
-Come celebrate the Marine Corps birthday at a Marine owned establishment. Please see the website for more details – http://www.americanacanton.com/
Sunday, November 11 – Veterans Day Commemoration
-The American Legion Post No. 22 is honoring veterans at the Wayside Cross (York Road and Shealy Ave) in Towson, MD at 11 a.m. on Sunday November 11, 2012. Please come out to honor our fellow men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces.
