I would like to invite each of you to participate in Holocaust Awareness Week next week sponsored by Hillel and the Newman Center.
On Friday, March 6th, we will be participating in Unto Every Person There is a Name, a reading of names of victims of the Holocaust. We are asking campus community members to sign up for a 5 minute reading shift. We will be reading outside of the lecture hall from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. If you are interested in reading, please email me what times would work for you and I will sign you up.
In addition, the following events will occur next week:
Tuesday, May 3rd- Nostra Aetate – The Legacy of Vatican II, a lecture by Dr. Rosann Catalano, Roman Catholic Staff Scholar at the Institute for Christian Jewish Studies. The lecture will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Vatican II document on the relations between Catholics and non-Christians.
7:30 p.m. in the Newman Center Chapel
Thursday, May 5th – Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day – Survivor, Morris Baker, will tell the story of his life in Auschwitz.
6:00 p.m. Newman Center Chapel
Kosher dinner for all in attendance after the presentation
