Enter the Smoke-Free Battle of the Bands Contest
This could be your big break! Submit your band’s original song and you could be a finalist in the statewide Smoke-Free Battle of the Bands in Maryland.
The contest, hosted by Maryland T.R.A.S.H. (Teens Rejecting Abusive Smoking Habits), launched Monday, April 4. Marylanders ages 14-24 are encouraged to show off their skills by submitting two original songs of five minutes or less. Bands must consist of two to ten members, the majority of who must either reside or attend school in Maryland.
This event not only showcases the musical talent of our State but also provides an opportunity for participants to take a stand against the tobacco industry sponsorship of popular concert tours by showing that 85% of Marylanders, including performers, businesses, youth and young adults, choose not to smoke.
Contest entries must be submitted by April 25. Songs along with lyrics may be submitted in mp3 format online at {http://www.SmokingStopsHere.com/BattleoftheBands}.

Entries submitted after the April 25 deadline will not be accepted nor will be illegible or incomplete entries.
Twelve bands will advance to the semi-finals and will be posted online from May 5 through May 8 where Marylanders will vote to determine the top four bands to compete LIVE in concert at Six Flags America in Largo on May 14. The winning band will receive studio-recording time to produce an EP, radio airplay, and a trip to see a national concert including airfare and hotel accommodations, season passes to Six Flags America in Largo and will have their song turned into a cell phone ring tone!
