WOMEN’S LACROSSE: Tigers Honored by IWLCA for Academic Success

TOWSON, Md. ? The Tiger women?s lacrosse team has been honored as an Intercollegiate Women?s Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Squad for achieving success in the classroom, it has been announced by IWLCA officials.

In addition, recent graduate Britt Woodfield and seniors Christine Dougherty, Kelly Patterson and Steph Taylor were named as members of the IWLCA Academic Squad.

?We are so honored to have four people named to such a prestigious list,? Towson Coach Missy Doherty said. ?These athletes work hard both on and off the field and it?s great to see them recognized by the IWLCA.?

The Tigers were one of 49 Division I teams to earn Academic Squad status after compiling a 3.308 team grade point average during the Spring, 2009 semester. In order to be named as an Academic Squad, a team must have a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Tigers were one of five teams from the Colonial Athletic Association to earn IWLCA Academic Squad honors.

In addition, there were 25 players on the Tigers? roster who posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the semester.
