SWIMMING AND DIVING: Tiger Women Recognized for Academic Success by CSCAA

TOWSON, Md. ? The Towson University women?s swimming and diving team has been recognized as an Academic All-America team for the 2007-08 season, it has been announced by the College Swim Coaches Association of America.

The Tigers, who recorded a team grade point average of 3.353 during the Spring, 2008 semester, were one of 81 Division I women?s teams to be recognized.

In addition, five individual members of the team were honored with Honorable Mention Academic All-America status. Sophomore Brooke Golden (New Windsor, Md.) and junior Robin Glaser (Easton H.S./Easton, Pa.) led the Tiger contingent by recording a 4.00 grade point average while sophomores Erica Hall (Mt. Notre Dame H.S./Hamilton, Ohio) and Kayla Zeller (Hempfield H.S./Landisville, Pa.) and junior Jordan Crosby (Middletown H.S. South/Monmouth, N.J.) earned at least a 3.500 grade point average.

?I am very proud of last year?s accomplishments in the water, but I also fee these academic accomplishments are equally impressive,? says Towson Coach Pat Mead. ?A great deal of thanks goes to Michele O?Connor and her staff and everyone who was part of this success. This is another great example of the meaning of the term ?student-athlete? and is something that Towson can be proud of.?

To be considered for Academic All-America status by the CSCAA, a team must have a total grade point average at 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale for the respective semester.

The Tigers were one of four Colonial Athletic Association teams to be honored for their academic success, joining Drexel (3.330), Northeastern (3.201) and James Madison (3.104).

Looking to extend their streak of 11 straight dual meet victories, the Tigers will host East Carolina in a non-conference dual meet at Burdick Pool on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
