The most decorated track athlete ever at Towson, senior Kelly Robinson, the women?s school record holder in the javelin, shot put and discus, has been named to the U.S. Track & Field Coaches Association?s 2008 Division I All-Academic team.
Kelly is one of 468 Division I women?s track & field student-athletes recognized nationally by the USTFCCCA. She is one of only seven Colonial Athletic Association performers to be so honored.
A three-time NCAA national qualifier in the javelin, Kelly owns school records for the javelin (157?-0?), both the indoor (41?-7.75?) and outdoor (43?-1.75?) shot put and the discus (135?-5?). During the 2008 outdoor season she was unbeaten in the javelin through the CAA Championships, winning by an average of almost 27 feet.
This past spring she won the conference javelin title and was named CAA Field Athlete of the Week for her winning performances in the Towson Invitational. A three-time All-East Region performer, she finished second at the 2008 ECAC Championships in the javelin, the best finish ever for any Towson track athlete at this meet.
A two-sport athlete at Towson, Kelly ended her basketball career with the Tigers ranked sixth on Towson?s all-time scoring list with 1,171 points. She holds the program record by playing in 115 games with 110 starts.
This past May Kelly earned her undergraduate degree in Physical Education.
