For the second time in the last four years, the Towson University women?s lacrosse team can call itself Colonial Athletic Association champions. Led by a dominating performance from senior goalkeeper Mandy Corry and a career-high six goals from sophomore Nikki Marcinik, the Tigers won the CAA title with a convincing 16-7 victory over top-seeded and 20th-ranked William & Mary yesterday afternoon.
With the victory, the Tigers receive an automatic berth in the 2008 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament. The Tigers were ranked 18th entering the CAA Tournament and will become one of 16 teams in the NCAA Tournament Field. That field will be announced tonight between 7 and 8 p.m. on the CBS College Sports Network (formerly CSTV).
