The Tigers’ cross country team gets its 2007 season underway this Saturday morning when Towson hosts the 25th Annual Baltimore Metro Meet at its picturesque Oregon Ridge Park home course beginning at 10:00 am.
Over the years the Tigers have captured eight Metro titles. They have won the team championship the last three straight years.
Last year’s top runner, Britta Nelson, finished second in this event in 2006 but will miss Saturday’s competition while recovering from an injury. Sophomore Michelle Donadio and senior Kay Borleis who placed third and fourth respectively, return to lead the way but Coach Roger Erricker says to keep an eye on freshman Katie Ogden, a newcomer from Northern High School.
Joining Towson in the hunt for the team title are Johns Hopkins, Morgan State, Coppin State, Villa Julie, Goucher, McDaniel and Hood.
The Tigers are at home for a second and final appearance of the season at Oregon Park Ridge when they host their annual Inivitational the following Saturday, September 8. That meet begins at 10:00 am also.
