MEN’S SOCCER: Tigers Advance to 3rd Round of NCAA Tournament

Coming off a dominating 2-0 victory over Fairfield University in the second round of the NCAA College Cup on Wednesday afternoon, Coach Frank Olszewski and the 20th-ranked Tigers will put their 14-match unbeaten streak on the line when they visit second-seeded Wake Forest University on Sunday, November 19 at Spry Stadium at 2:00 p.m.

The Towson-Wake Forest game matches the Colonial Athletic Association regular season champions against the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season champs. The Tigers, who won the CAA with a 10-0-1 record, were eliminated in the CAA semi-finals by George Mason in a penalty kick shootout. Making their second NCAA College Cup Tournament appearance, the Tigers were seeded 15th in the tournament field. After earning a first round bye, the Tigers advanced to the round of 16 with the win over Fairfield.

Wake Forest also received a first round bye and advanced to the round of 16 with a 5-1 win over Hofstra, a team that finished second in the CAA behind Towson and won the post-season tournament.
