Towson University Joins Distinguished List Of 12

Towson University joins a distinguished list of 12 academic institutions across the country, including Johns Hopkins University, Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa, in providing information assurance education that is mapped to all five federal educational standards.

Towson University, recognized in 2002 by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a national Center for Academic Excellence in Information Security Education, was informed by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) that it has evaluated Towson?s information assurance curriculum and that it meets all five federal requirements in information assurance education. The CNSS will formally recognize Towson University for its significant contributions in the field of information assurance education on June 6 at the Colloquium for Systems Security Education in Atlanta, Ga.

Students completing the information security curriculum at Towson University, whether as a certificate in information assurance or as part of their undergraduate or graduate studies, will also receive a certificate, approved by the CNSS, confirming that the student meets all federal requirements in information assurance education.
