Dr. Karl Larew, Professor Emeritus of History at Towson University, will discuss how planning to prevent a surprise attack on the Panama Canal Zone helped, unwittingly, to bring about the surprise at Pearl Harbor. The lecturer was in the Canal Zone on December 7, 1941, albeit at the age of five, where his father ran the Canal’s radar defenses.

The lecture is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University (formerly the Auburn Society) in partnership with the Towson Library.
