PeopleSoft Financials will not just affect Fiscal Planning and Services staff members or divisional budget officers. Anyone who purchases goods, submits project requests, creates forms with a budget code field or uses a budget code in any capacity will be affected by the PeopleSoft implementation. If you fall into any of these categories, follow the steps below to prepare yourself for the July 1 implementation.
? Learn the new terminology. An account/budget code is now a department, a subcode is now an account, a GL map code is now a fund, and a grant account is now a grant/project.
? Update your departmental forms to reflect the new terms and values. Whether it?s an external request form or internal spreadsheet, you should update your departmental forms to be consistent with PeopleSoft now. It will save your department a lot of confusion after implementation!
? Familiarize yourself with the chart of accounts. Your budget code will not be the same after PeopleSoft is implemented.
? Attend a training session. Take the online tutorials available on the PeopleSoft Web site or sign up for an Excel Basics training session at {http://fusion.towson.edu/www/ciat/workshops/}. Individuals involved in their departmental budgets will also receive an email invitation to classroom training.
