SOFTWARE TIP OF THE WEEK
Microsoft Windows XP/Vista: Add a Shortcut to Your Start Menu
The last two tips dealt with creating shortcuts to a commonly used program, file, folder or Web site. This week?s tip discusses how to add a shortcut to the (top of the) Start menu for easy access.
1. Browse to the desired folder, file or program for which you want to create a shortcut.
2. Select the desired file/icon.
3. Drag the file/icon onto the Start button. Note: hold it there for about a second.
4. When the Start menu opens, drag the file to the top of the menu.
5. When ready, release your mouse button to drop the file/icon, and a shortcut icon appears.
