Postage Increase May 12

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will adjust prices for mail services, including first-class mail, standard mail, periodicals, package services and special services, on May 12.

A first-class mail stamp will be increased to 42 cents, though customers can continue to use forever stamps purchased for 41 cents. There will also be a 62-cent stamp available shortly after May 12 for one ounce nonmachinable first-class mail letters, such as square greeting cards.

Select prices:

First-Class mail letter (1 oz.) 42 cents
First-Class mail letter (2 oz.) 59 cents
Postcard 27 cents
First-Class mail large envelope (2 oz.) $1.00
Certified mail $2.70
First-Class mail international letter to Canada and Mexico (1 oz.) 72 cents
First-Class mail international letter to all other countries (1 oz.) 94 cents

Go to {http://usps.com/prices} for a complete price list of mailing services. New prices for express mail, priority mail, parcel select, and international mail will be announced in March.

Consistent with the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, the USPS will adjust mailing prices each May. By law, on average these prices cannot increase more than the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index. To help mailers prepare for the change 90 days notice of the price change is provided.
