TUPD Receives Governor?s Crime Prevention Award

The Towson University Police Department is being honored with the Governor?s Crime Prevention Award for the twenty-third consecutive year.

Towson was one of sixteen state law enforcement agencies to receive the departmental award for crime prevention, an honor they have earned more often than any other college or university in the state.

The TUPD was also recognized for its efforts with Operation Keepsafe and the campus safety video. The department uses these programs to communicate crime prevention and emergency preparedness information to student groups and university departments. In 2007 the TUPD conducted 83 crime prevention presentations with more than 17,000 attendees.

Information on the department, Operation Keepsafe, and the campus safety video can be found on the TUPD web site, {www.towson.edu/police}.
