Towson University recycled more than 278,000 pounds of material during this year?s RecycleMania competition. Students, faculty and staff banded together to recycle nearly 140 tons of material despite snowstorms that closed school for several days during the nine-week competition. The results surpassed last year?s totals and exceeded the university?s goal of recycling more than 120 tons of material during RecycleMania.
The competition began January 17 and ended March 27, with a week-long pause for spring break from March 14 – 20. Weekly recycling totals built slowly over the beginning of the competition, peaking at more than 50,000 pounds during week 8. Congratulations to the campus community on pulling together to achieve greater results than ever before! Also, thanks to everyone who participated in the RecycleMania effort: those who joined in on the recycling discussions and contests on our TU Goes Green Facebook page at {http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Towson-MD/Towson-Goes-Green/52012350350?ref=ts}, those of you who assisted with RecycleMania planning and brainstorming, and those of you who recycle as part of your daily activities. The competition was a success because of you!
