Parking and Shuttle Modifications Due to Snow

As everyone is aware, the mid-Atlantic region has been hit with two significant snow storms in a short period of time. The storms will inevitably impact the availability of parking spaces and shuttle service over the coming weeks, and we ask for your patience as we adjust our services as necessary. Please assist us by closely monitoring the daily digest, e-mail and posted signs for the most current parking and shuttle information. If possible the campus community is also asked to help reduce the demand for parking by carpooling or limiting unnecessary trips to/around campus.

The following shuttle service and parking modifications have been implemented in response to the snowstorms. Updated information will be posted on the Parking & Transportation Services Web site at {www.towson.edu/parking}. Please monitor the Parking Web site and Nextbus for up to date information.

Shuttle Service
Effective Tuesday, February 9, all shuttle service is suspended until further notice. Service will resume once classes are back in session and it is safe to operate the buses. Once operations resume, it will likely be necessary to temporarily relocate some stops and to continue the suspension of service on some routes due to road conditions. While every attempt will be made to maintain schedules, riders should expect delays and plan to ride an earlier shuttle than usual.

For those who rely on the off campus shuttle service and do not have a parking permit, a daily permit can be purchased for $6 at the pay stations located in Towson center lots 13 & 21. The Towson Center permit allows parking at lots 13, 14, 19, and 20. Also, Alternative Transportation participants can use their free parking codes to park at the Towson Center lots.

Temporary Express Shuttle from Towson Center Lots
Once classes resume and until all walkways from the Towson Center to the core campus are cleared, Transportation services will run an express shuttle from the Towson Center lots to Stephens Hall. This shuttle service will be in addition to the regular Gold route shuttles.

Parking
As a result of the significant amount of snow fall, a large number of parking spaces throughout campus will be unavailable as a result of snow piles. Until snow can be relocated and/or melts, it will be necessary to modify parking restrictions.

Until further notice, violations for being parked in the wrong area will be suspended in commuter and resident lots. All permits will be valid in these areas. A valid permit is still required to park on campus. Once the campus is able to minimize the loss of spaces due to snow, a Daily Digest message will be posted to announce when regular enforcement will resume. This is expected to be within a few days of when classes resume.

Additionally, faculty/staff parking areas have been temporarily expanded to include Lot 11a outside of the Union Garage and additional spaces in the Towsontown Garage visitor area located on the ground floor ramp. Please read the posted signs in these areas.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.
