How are visitor parking fees paid?
Visitor fees may be paid by the department or by the individual. See the paragraphs below for additional information.
Permits Paid by the Department
Any department on campus may request visitor codes to be used in lieu of cash payment at any pay station. Due to state laws and university policies, visitor codes may only be issued to visitors. Faculty, staff and students may not be issued or use visitor codes.
? Departments should request codes from Parking and Transportation Services each May for the coming academic year via the request form available at {http://www.towson.edu/adminfinance/auxservices/parking/forms/deptcode.asp}. The number of codes requested should be based on the number of guests the department expects to have during that academic year. If necessary, additional codes may be requested throughout the academic year. Please allow at least five business days for processing.
? When a department is expecting a visitor, the staff from that department can provide the visitor with one of the departmental parking codes, which are valid for one time use only. The staff should direct the visitor to a visitor lot and inform him or her to use the code at the pay station to obtain their permit.
? Upon arrival, the guest will go to the pay station, select ?Department Visitor? permit and enter the code into the pay station in lieu of a cash payment. The pay station will print a permit that must be displayed on the dash of the vehicle.
? Parking and Transportation Services will automatically bill the department in June for any codes used.
? Main campus visitor lot – $4 flat rate
? Towson Center lots – $3 flat rate
? Evening rate after 3 p.m. (Valid in visitor lots, commuter areas and Towson Center lots) – $2 flat rate
Permits Paid by the Visitor
Anyone visiting the campus whose parking will not be covered by a department must park in a visitor lot and pay the prevailing rate. Visitor pay stations accept cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover as valid forms of payment.
? Core campus visitor lot $2 per hour or $12 flat rate (Note: Core campus visitor permits are also valid in the Towson Center lots.)
? Towson Center lots $2 per hour or $6 flat rate (Note: Towson Center visitor permits are not valid on the core campus.)

Additional Information
? A valid parking permit is required to park anywhere on campus from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays.
? Activities that will have more than 10 vehicles at any one time are considered events. Parking for events must be coordinated through the submission of an ?Event Request Form.? Department visitor codes may not be used for groups of 10 or more.
