Parking & Transportation Notice ? Handicap Parking Enforcement & Registration

Parking & Transportation Services would like to remind the campus community that in order to legally park in a handicap parking space, the vehicle must either display a valid handicap placard or handicap license plates, as well as have a valid TU parking permit of some type. Handicap spaces and transfer areas (the hashed areas next to handicap spaces) are very important for members of the campus community and visitors with mobility limitations. These spaces should not be abused for convenience.

Please note that only the individual to whom a handicap placard/plate is issued may use it for parking in a handicapped space. The individual with a registered handicap placard/plate must be in the vehicle when the vehicle is parked in a handicap space. If the owner of the placard/plate is dropped off, the vehicle cannot be parked in a handicap space.

Valid holders of a handicap placard/plate should register with Parking & Transportation so that the department can note the valid handicap placard/plate as well as send out informational updates. The Handicap Registration Form can be found at {http://www.towson.edu/adminfinance/auxservices/parking/forms/registration.asp}.

Parking & Transportation strictly enforces handicap parking spaces. Violators are subject to fines up to $300 and/or towing as well as other sanctions. If anyone suspects abuse of handicap spaces, please provide any relevant information to the Parking & Transportation office. All information will be kept confidential.

For additional information, please visit the Parking & Transportation Services website at {www.towson.edu/parking} or call 410-704-PARK.
