Tiger Football Team To Host Selection Show Party on Sunday Morning

On Sunday, November 20 at 10 a.m., the No. 8 Tiger football team will find out its NCAA FCS postseason fate when the Tigers hold a Selection Show party at PAWS on the first floor of the University Union Building on the Tigers? campus.
Towson University students, faculty and staff, alumni and fans are invited to attend the event the public event. The doors open at 9:30 a.m.
The NCAA FCS Playoff Selection Show will air on ESPNU from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Dari Nowkhah will host the show along with analysts Craig Haubert and Tom Luginbill.
The Tigers, who can clinch the Colonial Athletic Association?s automatic berth by beating Rhode Island on Saturday, will meet at PAWS to watch the Selection Show on the large screens.
At the Selection Show Party, there will be giveaways, autograph opportunities and other activities.
The most-improved team in NCAA FCS this season with an 8-2 record, the Tigers are seeking their first ever NCAA FCS postseason appearance. The Tigers competed in the NCAA Division III playoffs in 1976 and reached the national championship game, the Stagg Bowl. In 1983, 1984 and 1986, the Tigers qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs.
The Tiger football program moved up to NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS) status in 1987.
On Sunday, the NCAA will announce its 20-team championship field. The Top 12 teams will earn first-round byes while the bottom eight teams will play first-round games on Nov. 26. The four first round games will be played on campus sites.
In the NCAA FCS championship field, there are 10 automatic qualifiers and 10 teams that are selected as at-large teams. Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Georgia Southern (9-1), Lehigh (9-1), Norfolk State (9-2) and Sam Houston State (10-0) have clinched their league championships. Georgia Southern, an NCAA semifinalist last season, won the Southern Conference while Lehigh won the Patriot League for the second year in a row. Norfolk State won its first ever Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship while undefeated Sam Houston State won the Southland Conference title.
The second round of the NCAA FCS playoffs will be held on Dec. 3 at campus sites. On Dec. 9-10, the NCAA FCS quarter-finals will be held at campus sites. The two semi-final games are scheduled for Dec. 16-17 at campus sites.
The NCAA FCS championship game is scheduled for Jan. 7 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas.
