Art of Vietnam: 21st Century

Opening Reception and Curator?s Talk: Saturday, October 20, 3- 6 p.m.

Never before seen in the Baltimore region, this exhibition of Vietnamese art is a mixture of Eastern techniques such as watercolor on silk, woodblock, plaster engraving, and lacquer painting, combined with the European influences of Impressionism and Cubism. All the artists were toddlers at the closing of America?s military involvement in their country.

Five Vietnamese artists featured in the exhibition will give demonstrations on painting on silk and lacquer, and the techniques of plaster engraving at the opening. Admission is free.

Gallery Hours: Mon.- Fri. 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.; Sat. 1 – 4 p.m.

In celebration of the opening of Art of Vietnam: 21st Century, there will be a dance performance of The Four Seasons on Saturday, October 20, 8 pm in the Stephens Hall Theatre. Call 410-704-2787 for tickets.
