Body/Language Deadline Approaching

Eating disorders and body image issues are on the rise, negatively affecting many college students. This event is a time to draw attention to the problem and speak out, no longer keeping it secret. Towson University students are invited to submit lyrics, spoken word, skits, poetry, short fiction or creative non-fiction that captures artistic reactions to this epidemic, expressing the range of reactions from body appreciation and pride to appearance shame and struggles. Select pieces will be chosen to be read at the event and the authors will each receive a prize. The event will take place February 24th from 6 to 8 PM in the Chesapeake 3 of the University Union.

Submission guidelines and applications can be found at the Counseling Center website: {www.towson.edu/counseling}. The deadline for entries is December 17, 2010. Applicants will be notified of the status of their submission by January 31, 2011 through email. Contact Dr. Jaime Fenton, staff psychologist at the Counseling Center, if you have questions.
