The campus contract for McAfee Antivirus Enterprise ends July 31, 2011. If you installed this product on a personally owned computer or laptop by downloading it from the Office of Technology Services (OTS) download page, you will need to uninstall it on or before July 31 and replace it with another antivirus product. This contract termination notice only applies to McAfee downloaded from the OTS website. If you acquired McAfee any other way, such as purchased it on your own or through your Internet provider, you may keep it and can disregard the rest of this message.
OTS now recommends two alternative no-cost products that meet the needs of faculty, staff and students and integrates well with the new on-campus antivirus solution, Forefront Endpoint Protection. Find out more or download these products here:
Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows:

ClamXav for Mac:

If you feel you need a more comprehensive solution for home or personal use, you can consider purchasing a product like Norton 360 or McAfee Total Protection. The decision will be up to you.
The McAfee Antivirus Enterprise campus license served the campus well over the years, but OTS has found that these no-cost alternatives will provide comparable protection. Additionally, Microsoft Security Essentials is the “personal” version of Forefront Endpoint Protection which is now used to protect on-campus Windows computers, so people will experience a similar look-and-feel between home and work computers.
