TU Diversity Vision Statement

As you may know, last summer a special committee appointed by the President made a series of recommendations about Towson’s agenda to be a more diverse institution, reflecting the communities we serve. One of the recommendations involved the appointment of a Diversity Coordinating Committee to oversee the progress of becoming a welcoming academic community for all. As Provost of the University, I chair the committee, and I am assisted by Mr. David Harnage, Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Debra Moriarty, Vice President for Student Affairs; and Ms. Debra Seeberger, Special Assistant to the President for Diversity and Equal Opportunity. We have submitted a series of recommendations and priorities for the next year, as well as some longer term goals, all of which are part of the tactical implementation of objectives stated in Vision 2010. The President’s Council has approved these directions, and I ask that you look at them as well. The documents are posted on the Provost’s webpage. You may access them through the following link, {www.towson.edu/provost}, and they are listed under the What’s New section as TU Diversity Vision Statement.

Thank you for your help in making Towson a stronger, more diverse community.

James F. Brennan
