Annual Women in Science Forum, March 4, 2006-Free and Open to all

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to invite you to the Spring 2006 Forum sponsored by the Towson University Women in Science Program. The Forum provides an arena for science and mathematics teachers, students interested in careers in science and mathematics, and scientists and mathematicians from academia and industry to meet, network, and hear about the research work of nationally known scientists and mathematicians. It is also a gathering in which we can all learn about the varied career paths of women scientists and mathematicians and consider some of the issues involved in the decision to enter the discipline. Please extend this invitation to your students and colleagues.

We have a very exciting line-up of speakers this year. Dr. Cynthia Zeller, Towson University, will speak about forensic chemistry in a presentation entitled ?Life Before, During and After CSI.? Dr. Fern Hunt, National Institute of Standards and Technology Mathematical Modeling Group, will deliver an address, entitled ?A Mathematician Looks at PAINT, HOLLYWOOD MOVIES, AND DNA.? Finally, Dr. Debra Mathews, Johns Hopkins University, will tell us about Bioethics and Genetics in an address entitled ?Genetics in Context: Science, Policy and Society.?

Registration is free and a complimentary continental breakfast and a lunch buffet will be provided. Please let us know if you will be coming so that we might have a true head count for ordering food.

We hope that you will be able to join us on March 4. Please pass this information along to others who might also be interested in attending. I look forward to seeing you at the Forum.

Sincerely,

Gail E. Gasparich, Ph.D.
