Women’s Basketball to host WBCA PinkZone Game – Sunday, January 18th @ 2 p.m.

Towson Athletics and the Tiger Women’s Basketball program is proud to announce its participation in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s ?Pink Zone? initiative to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. More than 600 schools nation-wide are participating in the initiative this season.

The event will take place on Sunday, January 18 when the Tigers take on Colonial Athletics Association opponent UNC-Wilmington in women?s basketball. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the Towson Center Arena at Towson University. Proceeds raised at Towson?s event will go to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, the world’s largest, boldest and most progressive grassroots network of survivors and activists fighting to cure breast cancer at every stage. In addition to collecting donations in person at the event on February 17, Towson is contributing $2 from every ticket purchased to the Komen foundation. ?It?s important for the community to understand that 75% of donations to Komen Maryland stay in Maryland to fund 20 grants across the state,? stated Rachel Carlberg, the Volunteer Coordinator for the Maryland affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. ?We are very pleased to partner with Towson University on this special event.?

Adult general admission tickets are just $5 and tickets for kids 17 and under are only $3.

As a special treat to fans in attendance at the Towson-UNC-Wilmington game on Jan. 18, pink breast cancer awareness ribbons will be given away at the door. The Towson team will wear special warm-ups, and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.

In addition, the day is also our Annual Girl Scouts of America Day. There will be programing for the girl scouts that includes, a pre game tour of the Towson Center and Johnny Unitas Stadium (weather permitting), a Sign Making Session for the game with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, on court parade for the national anthem, and post game autograph session with the players. Each Girl Scout in attendance will receive a Scout Day patch along with a WBCA Pink Zone Rally Towel and Towson Women’s Basketball Team Autograph Card.

Girl Scouts are asked to register in advance by contacting Steve Sowers at 410-704-3571 or email at ssowers@towson.edu. The cost for the Girl Scouts to attend the game is just the cost of a ticket which is just $3! Click here for the Girl Scout Day Flyer for all the information and Timeline of events. Girl Scouts of America Day will start at 11:30 a.m. at the Towson Center.
