FOOTBALL: Homecoming Weekend Offers Something for Everyone

Excitement is in the air as Saturday’s Homecoming Game with long time rival Delaware quickly approaches. From Friday afternoon through the end of the football game on Saturday, there are a number events that die hard Tiger fans should not miss out on.

The annual Pigskin Pass starts off homecoming at Delaware stadium where athletes from both Towson and Delaware run 58 miles from Delaware Stadium to Johnny Unitas? Stadium to deliver the game ball right before kick off Saturday. This relay race raises money to support Special Olympic Organizations in both Maryland and Delaware. It’s never too late to get involved and donate.

Later Friday evening, the 2009 Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony gets under way. The evening starts with a formal dinner followed by a video filled with interviews about the incoming class and ends with a speech from each inductee. Athletes from four different sports will be inducted and the 1976 football team will be recognized as a Team of Distinction.

On Saturday, hospitality options begin with tailgating, starting at 12:30 pm in the parking lots surrounding Johnny Unitas? Stadium. The Minnegan Room, which opens at 1:30, will feature former Baltimore Colt Defensive End Roy Hitlon as well as four other guests on the hour and a half long pre-game radio show.

Then at 3:30 pm the football game with CAA rival Delaware kicks off. Halftime is jam-packed with performances and recognitions. For more information on tickets or promotions or other general needs associated with the game, look through the FAQ football page.

Come back to Towson this weekend and experience what being a Towson Tiger is all about. If you cannot make it back to campus, you can still watch the Towson vs Delaware football game live on the Towson Sports Network.
