SWIMMING & DIVING: Women’s Team Repeats as CAA Champions

Champion. It?s a word the Towson University women?s swimming and diving team is getting used to hearing. After another outstanding performance on Saturday, the Tigers claimed their second straight Colonial Athletic Association championship at the Jim McKay Natatorium.

The Tigers ended the meet with 741 points, defeating William & Mary by 215 points. Meanwhile, UNC Wilmington finished third with 476.50 points.

“The key to our success this year was our depth,” Coach Pat Mead said. “The entire team was unselfish and did whatever it took for the team to win. It’s not often that you have a team win a championship without winning a single relay, but we did that and it is a testament to the team that they worked as a unit instead of individually.

“People doubled up on events and even went in back-to-back events, which allowed us to get more points,” Mead added. “It is just another example of why we did so well.”
