In celebration of the Asian Pacific Heritage Month, the Asian Arts & Culture Center brings the distinguished scholar, Dr. Jonathan Chaves to campus to give a lecture on the topic, The Scholarly Arts of China, on Sunday, May 2, 2 p.m. in the University Union room 314. Dr. Chaves, professor of Chinese language and literature at the George Washington University, examines the interrelationships among the sister arts of poetry, calligraphy and painting in China. The western version of the sister arts relationship will also be discussed. Slides will be used to present images of some of the masterpieces, as well as reflections in the art of Japan.
