Student Involvement and Transitions and the Department of English are pleased to announce that “Kindred” written by Octavia Butler has been selected for the 6th Annual Book of the Year Celebration, taking place on Tuesday, October 5, 2004. Ms. Butler is currently on a 25th Anniversary tour with the book. Ms. Butler will present two lectures on campus: one at 3:30 p.m. in the University Union (exact room to be determined) and at 7:30 p.m. in Stephens Auditorium. The afternoon lecture will be an informal question and answer session regarding the art of writing and the evening lecture will be a formal reading and lecture from the book. Faculty members interested in reviewing the book for inclusion in their classes should contact Teri Hall {thall@towson.edu} or 43307. Faculty members using the book will also receive a free t-shirt commemorating the event.
