Approximately 30,000 people die by suicide each year, and every one of them leaves behind loved ones and friends.
National Survivors of Suicide Day allows survivors of suicide loss to connect with other survivors in their local communities and online in an empowering and healing environment. This teleconference, which will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m., will give them an opportunity to share their grief, reach out for support, and support others. The teleconference will take place in Cook Library, Room 512.
This seventh annual program is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It will broadcast live from New York and features a panel comprised of survivors and medical experts including Dr. John R. Jordan of Boston’s Family Loss Project and Dr. Gretchen L. Hass of the Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
