March Technology Training Classes Offer Variety of Topics for Your Computing Needs

The Technology Support Services Training Center will continue to offer a wide variety of workshops in March. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to sign up to learn something new or to refresh your skills in a relaxed and ?at your own pace? atmosphere.

The following classes will be offered in March:

WORD PROCESSING
Word Fundamentals ? Thursday, March 4, 1-4 p.m.
Take the frustration out of dealing with your word processor by teaming up with an experienced instructor who can teach you the ins and outs of Word basics. Don?t be fooled into thinking you should be able to learn it on your own ? a class will help! (Prerequisite: Windows Fundamentals)

Power Hour: Word Styles and Formatting ? Monday, March 8, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Power Hour: Word Tabs and Indents ? Monday, March 8, 11 a.m.-noon

Word Formatting Features ? Thursday, March 11, 1-4 p.m.
Did you know you could animate your text? Word is a powerful word processor with many formatting options. Come to this class to discover them! (Prerequisite: Windows Fundamentals)

OUTLOOK
Outlook Advanced E-mail Skills ? Wednesday, March 3, 9 a.m.-noon
Are you ready to take e-mail to the next level? This course is designed for users who are comfortable with sending, reading and managing e-mail and who are ready to customize Outlook to meet their needs.

Power Hour: Outlook Calendar Shortcuts and Tips ? Tuesday, March 23, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

POWERPOINT
PowerPoint Fundamentals ? Tuesday, March 23, 9 a.m.-noon
Give your presentations a lift with a PowerPoint slide show! Not only will you see just how fast you can get started with built-in templates, but you?ll also add decorative backgrounds, insert and rearrange slides, format your text, insert graphics and effectively run a slide show with animated transitions and special effects.

EXCEL
Excel Fundamentals ? Wednesday, March 24, 9 a.m.-noon
Keeping track of information with a spreadsheet is easy if you start with a good foundation! This class is designed for the spreadsheet beginner.

ACCESS
Access Overview ? Tuesday, March 30, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Get your new database up and running fast with this overview of Access 2000. You will create tables, queries, forms, reports and databases with built-in wizards. Along the way, learn the lingo and some important database design tips. A one-hour lunch break is included. (Prerequisite: Windows Fundamentals)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Microsoft Project: Customizing Views and Tracking Information ? Friday, March 12, 9 a.m.-4p.m.
How is your project running? Is it ahead of schedule or behind? Is it over or under budget? Learn how to customize views to see the information you need and track the costs and progress associated with your project. You will also customize reports to share ?must-know? information with others. This is a full day class designed for mid-level to upper-level management who want to use Microsoft Project for schedule and cost tracking.

WEB SITE DEVELOPMENT
FrontPage: Getting Started ? Tuesday, March 2, 1-4 p.m.
Whether you?re setting up your own personal Web site or keeping your department?s up-to-date, this class will get you started learning about the process of creating Web sites at Towson University. Explore how to move and delete files, organize your site and more. (Prerequisites: Windows Fundamentals; Internet experience)

FrontPage: Local Copies and Advanced Features/Formatting ? Tuesday, March 9, 1-4 p.m.
In this course you will learn how to create a copy of your Web site when making extensive changes or as a back-up of your site. You will learn features like inserting a page counter, creating hover buttons and working with graphics.

FrontPage: Designing Forms ? Tuesday, March 16, 1-4 p.m.
This class will teach you how to create efficient and professional forms for obtaining information from people visiting your Web site, conducting a survey, asking for feedback and more. Explore how to design the forms, format your questions and store results. (Prerequisites: Windows Fundamentals; Internet experience)

Dreamweaver MX: Getting Started ? Thursday, March 18, 9 a.m.-noon
Find out how to set up Dreamweaver to edit your Web site. You will learn about formatting, hyperlinks and tables.

TARGETED LEARNING SESSIONS
Schedule a one-on-one session for help with specific topics or to explore a general topic. Appointments may be scheduled for the dates listed below in 45-minute increments. Please bring your own files to work on.
