Did You Know that University Police . . .

. . . operates 80 blue light emergency phones across campus?

With spring comes warm weather and an increase in outdoor activities on campus. As part of Towson University?s commitment to safety for its faculty, staff and students, the Towson University Police Department (TUPD) operates 80 blue light emergency phones throughout campus. Please familiarize yourself with the locations of these phones and use them if an emergency occurs.

When the emergency button is pushed on a blue light phone, the blue light on top of the phone begins to flash and the call is received in the TUPD. The police dispatcher can identify the caller?s location and immediately dispatch a police officer to the area. Some blue light phones are located within range of security cameras, and callers may be monitored until the arrival of police officers.

Some blue light phones that are located in the outer parking lots of campus also have a keypad so that callers can contact the TUPD to request an escort.

If you notice that a blue light phone is malfunctioning, please call 410-704-2134 to report it.

If you have questions, please contact Detective George Morgan at 410-704-3403.
