On Thursday, March 10, at 5 p.m. in Linthicum 200, the Classical Studies Minor will host a lecture, “Eureka! The Archimedes Palimpsest”, by Will Noel, Ph.D., Curator of Manuscripts and Rare Books at the Walters Art Museum. Dr. Noel has been working on the restoration of this very important manuscript. His talk will demonstrate the techniques used to recover the underlying 3rd century BC text of the palimpsest (a document erased and written over) without destroying the medieval hymnbook superimposed on it. The lecture should last one hour. Admission is free. Contact information: Professor Allaire Stallsmith, History department, 410-704-2909 or {astallsmith@towson.edu}.
