The Asian Arts & Culture Center, in collaboration with the Towson University Department of Art, hosts a five-day residency (March 28 -April 1) by Peter Callas ({http://www.petercallas.com}), New York-based ceramic artist whose works have been strongly influenced by Japanese sculpture techniques. Through the residency’s master classes, workshops and lecture, ceramic students and regional artists will gain a sense of Asian aesthetics and how contemporary artists meld traditional techniques with Western sensibilities. This residency program is part of a series of activities associated with the exhibition, Fired with Passion: Contemporary Ceramics of Japan, on view at the Asian Arts Gallery through May 11.
