Following the devastating aftermath of WWII, Japanese artists searched for a new sense of identity. Over the post-war decades, innovative forms sprang from inspiration not constrained by tradition. This exhibition highlights more than 50 ceramics works created by masters such as Shoji Hamada, Yasuo Hayashi, Osamu Suzuki, Suehara Fukami, Suzuki Goro, Yuriko Matsuda, Harumi Nakashima and Takashi Hinoda. The sculptural pieces were selected by guest curator Beatrice Chang of the Daichi Art Gallery, New York, who recently co-authored a book on the subject.
Admission is free.
