Willie Birch is a well-known artist who has created installations using papier-mache and mixed media. His subjects concentrate on Southern and African spiritual traditions as well as on friends and neighbors in his hometown of New Orleans. An artist-in-residence this fall at the Maryland Institute College of Art, he will discuss his work and career at Towson University as part of the Department of Art’s lecture series.
