In late July, Student Computing Services (SCS) returned to its permanent home on the first floor of Cook Library.
There is much about the SCS triad of services that hasn?t changed:
– The SCS Service Desk continues to provide troubleshooting and problem resolution support in person, via e-mail and over the phone.
– The SCS Computer Lab continues to provide reliable computing workspaces for all TU students, regardless of major, for an accommodating 90 hours a week.
– The SCS Learning Center continues to provide technology training services and self-help resources, special workspaces particularly conducive to collaboration, accessible graphics and multimedia production tools, assisted poster printing, and digital still and video camera loans.
However, there is also much that has changed and continues to change to make SCS a more comfortable, effective and stimulating place to work and learn:
– The first thing you are likely to notice is our convenient new entrance–a short beeline from the stairway and elevators and you?re here.
– Once you have entered SCS, you will discover new carpeting, new paint, spacious new workstations, and a new look and layout well suited to help you succeed in the new semester and beyond. That?s a lot of news!
– In the Learning Center, we have added a second collaboration station to accommodate groups working together on computing projects and an updated poster printer for even more dazzling large-format prints.
But wait, there?s more! A bit later this fall, we?ll be introducing the new SCS Studio, a private space—separate from the lab—specially designed and equipped for graphics and multimedia production, low-end audio and video editing, and PowerPoint presentation rehearsals.
