As part of an ongoing initiative to increase and improve security for the campus network, CANS? Information Technology group will implement a firewall in the coming months.
In its simplest form, a firewall is a mechanism that protects internal computers from outside intrusion. In the university?s case, the firewall will be a combination of network hardware and software that will prevent attacks on campus computers by viruses, worms and other unauthorized users.
If your computer or a server that you administer offers content to the Internet, you may be affected by the firewall.
